A Heavy Heart

A heavy rock is solid,
A heavy truck can pull,
A heavy clock an antique,
A heavy backpack full,

A heavy box keeps memories,
Of photos, books, and plaques,
A heavy bat hits harder,
And doesn’t freely crack,

A heavy sigh releases,
A heavy breath to catch,
A heavy boot is sturdy,
A heavy door will latch,

A heavy lion noble,
A heavy tiger roars,
The heaviest of mighty birds,
The Albatross, can soar,

The feeling of a heavy heart,
The weight inside your chest,
Is simply just a symptom,
Of the love that you invest,

Look back at all the heavy things,
I’ve listed up above,
And see if their descriptions,
Match what you might be made of,

That heavy heart that aches you,
That pains you to your soul,
Is actually a sign that you,
Are stronger than you know,

So like a sodden heavy sponge,
That’s dripping, wet, and full,
Just take both hands and squeeze it out,
And feel each weeping pulse,

Let it take root inside of you,
Find comfort in that part,
And know that great peace follows,
Right behind a heavy heart.
